The number of people experiencing healing from Ayahuasca is quickly moving from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands per year. While the vast majority report positive experiences, there are indeed risks that need to be acknowledged. One such risk is the potential for sexual abuse. One of the factors that makes Ayahuasca so powerful as a healer is that it takes the participant into deep states of vulnerability, which is perhaps where all deep healing occurs. Unfortunately, not every practitioner has the discipline or inclination to maintain appropriate sexual boundaries on behalf of the participant during this vulnerability. What are the ways for individuals to avoid these problems and how can the global community grow through this challenge?
